How to Clean and Purify Natural Stones?

We can’t just clean our natural stones any old way. We have to consider their hardness levels.

How Do You Clean and Purify Natural Stones?

The pure energy stored inside natural stones changes depending on the environment or the people they come into contact with. If not cleansed, you could be exposed to unwanted energy. For example, the same glass in a restaurant is used by hundreds of people each week, and you wouldn’t want to use it if it wasn’t clean. When you touch a natural stone, your energies begin to merge. By cleansing your stone, you can charge it with your own energy, intentions, and intuition. It’s not just when you first get it, but throughout the time you use it, it’s important to cleanse your stone periodically.

How Often Should I Cleanse My Natural Stone?

There isn’t a set schedule. It varies depending on how you use your stone and what you feel.

Methods of Cleansing and Purifying Natural Stones?

    • Running Water
    • Salt Water
    • Incense
    • Soil
    • Moonlight
    • Sound
    • Mental Intention
    • Selenite Stone

    Running Water

Water, our biggest ally in staying alive, is also one of the most beneficial tools for cleansing our natural stones. Running water can neutralize your stone’s energy and disperse it into the universe. Here, your choice of stone is important; opting for stones with a higher hardness level makes the process smoother. Stones with a hardness above 5 are necessary to avoid dissolution in water. If you live near natural flowing water like rivers or waterfalls, those are the best choices but rinsing them under a tap can also yield good results. However, this method isn’t suitable for all stones; for instance, selenite, kyanite, and calcite should not be cleansed with water.

    Salt Water

You can purify your stone by soaking it in salt water. Opting for a sea-derived stone can enhance its spiritual power and yield wonderful results. While cleansing your stone, imagining it being purified and rejuvenated can make the process more effective.

    Incense

Another method is using incense for cleansing, where we utilize the element of air. Surrounding and purifying your natural stone with the smoke from burning incense is a common practice, especially for fragile stones. You can be assured that your stone’s energy will be reset.

    Soil

Grounding is significant both for purification and for the stones to regain their minerals. Soil contains magnesium, silicon, iron, selenium minerals, and our bodies have all the minerals carried by soil. When we cleanse our natural stone with soil, it not only absorbs lost minerals but also nurtures us with these minerals. Soil neutralizes all the energy in the natural stone. However, make sure not to bury your stone in the soil of a living plant as it may transmit negative energy to the plant. It is also wise to change the soil frequently and avoid artificial soil for the best outcome.

    Moonlight

Positioning our natural stones so they are exposed to moonlight can cleanse them. The full moon’s light is preferred for its strong, perceivable energy.

    Sound

The vibrations and energy of sounds can purify your natural stones. Singing or using instruments can also cleanse your stones.

    Mental Intention (Thought)

Hold your stone between both hands and raise it to your heart level, take a calm breath, and gently blow your intention onto your stone. Repeat this a few times.

    Selenite Stone

Selenite stone is a great option for neutralizing energy. Place your natural stones on top of selenite.
